The Iowa Department for the Blind operates the Orientation Center for the Blind in Des Moines.
The Center provides intensive nonvisual-skills training for blind adults.
Its philosophy is based on the belief that, with appropriate training and expectations, blind people can live independent and fulfilling lives.
The Center currently offers both a comprehensive training program and a more flexible Specific Skills Track.

Training Options
Comprehensive Track: An immersive program covering the Center’s full blindness-skills curriculum.
Specific Skills Track: Allows participants to select specific classes and a training schedule based on their individual needs and goals.
