The Illinois Talking Book and Braille Service, commonly called TBBS, is operated through the Illinois State Library.
TBBS is part of the National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled network.
The service provides accessible library materials by mail and digital download to Illinois residents who cannot read standard print because of a qualifying visual or physical disability.

Who They Serve
Eligible Illinois residents who are unable to read standard printed material because of a permanent or temporary visual or physical disability.
Additional qualifying print disabilities may be covered under current NLS eligibility rules.
TBBS provides free accessible reading materials statewide and gives eligible users multiple ways to read independently.
BARD allows patrons to download audio and Braille materials to compatible devices, including smartphones, tablets, and refreshable Braille displays.
