Centers for Independent Living are community-based, consumer-controlled, cross-disability, nonresidential organizations.

They are not assisted-living facilities or residential homes.

Their purpose is to empower people with disabilities to make their own choices and participate fully in their communities.

Delaware’s independent-living network includes organizations such as Independent Resources, Inc. and the Freedom Center for Independent Living.
